Your legal work, orchestrated.
Hermes Legal Agent by LexEdge AI brings drafting, research, matter workspaces and practical law-firm automation into one lawyer-controlled desktop agent. It is built on the powerful, self-improving Hermes Agent framework created by Nous Research. Our latest n8n implementation adds client intake, conflicts, contract workflows, litigation preparation, deadlines, billing support and more.
Independent implementation. LexEdge AI is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or partnered with n8n, Nous Research, or the Hermes Agent project.
Across intake, contracts, litigation, deadlines and operations.
Time capture and billing narratives remain under final testing.
Drafts and legal conclusions stay with the lawyer.
Run the agent and n8n within infrastructure you control.
Open-source software; hosting and model costs depend on your choices.
Your firm decides what moves.
Hermes understands the lawyer’s request. n8n handles repeatable operational steps. Approval gates separate analysis from action, so drafting a client update is not the same as sending it.
A working layer for firm operations.
The current library covers the work around legal judgment: receiving, classifying, organising, comparing, reminding and preparing. Explore every implemented workflow on the dedicated capabilities page.
Clients, matters and conflicts
Create matter records, organise folders and run a conflict screen before work begins.
Email and document routing
Classify incoming material, attach it to the right matter and flag uncertain documents.
Triage, redlines and obligations
Compare versions, identify departures and turn executed promises into tracked actions.
Hearings and case monitoring
Prepare hearing briefs and watch active matters for listings, orders and date changes.
Limitation and GST notices
Surface statutory windows, reminders and first-pass GST notice analysis for verification.
Research, drafting and billing
Prepare research packs and documents, validate invoices and reconstruct draft time entries.
Your matters need not become someone else’s data.
Hermes and the n8n Community Edition can run on infrastructure controlled by your firm. Pair them with local models and local storage for the strongest privacy posture. If you connect cloud AI, Gmail, Drive, OCR or other services, those providers’ terms and data handling apply.
Confidentiality is a configuration, not a slogan.
A properly self-hosted deployment keeps the coordination layer under your control and lets the firm decide exactly which external services receive information.
- Local or firm-controlled matter storage
- Self-hosted n8n workflow engine
- Approval required before external delivery
- Local-model option for sensitive work
- Auditable workflow runs and access controls
Hermes desktop + matter workspace

Plain answers, no fine-print theatre.
What is Hermes Legal Agent?
Hermes Legal Agent by LexEdge AI is an open-source, legal-focused personal AI assistant built on Hermes Agent. It combines chat, legal skills, matter workspaces, documents, research tools and optional n8n automation in one lawyer-controlled environment.
What does LexEdge offer?
LexEdge adapts Hermes for legal practice with lawyer onboarding, Indian legal skills, matter organisation, safety defaults, messaging controls and a growing library of repeatable n8n workflows for law-firm operations.
Is it free?
The core software is open source and has no licence fee. n8n Community Edition can also be self-hosted. You may still pay for your computer or server, cloud model usage, email/storage accounts, OCR, case-data services or professional deployment support.
Is it secure and private?
It can be deployed privately because Hermes and n8n can run on systems controlled by your firm. Complete privacy requires a correctly secured installation, local or approved models, restricted credentials, encrypted storage, authenticated gateways and careful connector choices. Connecting third-party services sends selected data to those providers.
Does it give final legal advice or file documents?
No. It prepares drafts, summaries, research packs, checklists and operational records for lawyer review. Facts, authorities, limitation dates, strategy and every external action must be confirmed by a qualified professional.
Do we have to use n8n?
No. Hermes works as an agent without n8n. n8n adds repeatable multi-step automation—for example checking conflicts, organising intake, updating registers or preparing reminder queues.
Can the workflows match our firm’s process?
Yes. Recipients, folders, databases, approval policies, templates, practice areas and connectors can be adapted. Production deployment should begin with a test environment and a documented approval matrix.
Who created Hermes Agent?
Nous Research created Hermes Agent and publishes it under the MIT License. The upstream project is available at NousResearch/hermes-agent. LexEdge AI uses and customises that open-source foundation for legal workflows and legal-professional onboarding.
Is LexEdge AI connected with Nous Research or Hermes?
No. LexEdge AI is an independent project and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or partnered with Nous Research or the Hermes Agent project. Hermes, Hermes Agent, Nous Research and related names, marks and logos belong to their respective owners. LexEdge AI’s contribution is the legal-industry customisation, packaging, workflows and out-of-the-box experience.
